BrickBreak: Construct and Destroy!

Welcome to BrickBreak, my very first game! :)

I've been working on this project for less than a month, and it's already shaping up to be something special. At its core, BrickBreak is a physics-based sandbox where creativity meets destruction. Build your structures with blocks, test their strength, and enjoy the satisfaction of watching them crumble in epic ways. BrickBreak explores the balance between destruction and restoration as players build and rebuild structures in a chaotic yet creative sandbox.

How to Play

  1. Build your structure using the block list (E) or select blocks with the mouse wheel or 1-5 keys.
  2. Adjust block positions with the arrow keys and rotate them with R.
  3. Test the strength of your creation by entering destruction mode (P).
  4. Place blocks with the left mouse button and destroy them with the right mouse button.
  5. Compete or experiment in this dynamic sandbox!

My Vision for the Future of my game

This is just the beginning! My ultimate goal is to create a game where players can take any instruction from a construction set and bring it to life in-game. While building is important, the true fun lies in destroying your creations and testing their durability.

In the future, I plan to:

  • Add more block types to expand your building possibilities.
  • Allow players to upload their creations to a shared server.
  • Let others download and smash those creations, adding a community-driven element to the game.
  • The game will explore concepts of restoring what has been destroyed, challenging players to rebuild stronger and better designs.
  • And more-more..

Known Bugs (Because No First Game Is Perfect :D)

As this is my first project, there are a few quirks and bugs that I’m aware of:

  1. Extra blocks spawning under the map – Don’t worry, they’re not plotting anything… probably.
  2. Blocks floating or overlapping – When using the alignment joystick, you might place blocks in mid-air or inside other blocks.
  3. Blocks on edge – Blocks like 1x1 and 2x1 can be placed on the edge of other blocks, defying gravity a little.
  4. Level flicker – The level briefly appears in the main menu, escape menu, and block selection menu.
  5. Walking in menus – You can still move around while in the escape menu or block selection menu.
  6. Physics glitches – When you place a block with the joystick and enable physics, it might spawn slightly higher, causing everything to explode (or “train go boom”) unexpectedly.
  7. Ghost block issues – When you break a block, the ghost block disappears and needs to be re-selected from the block menu.
  8. Save/Load mystery – When saving and loading your progress, one random block seems to disappear... it’s like it decided to take a break :D

While these bugs might cause some unexpected chaos, I hope you’ll enjoy the fun of exploring the game as it evolves.

And I’m sure there are plenty more bugs lurking out there that I haven’t discovered yet! If you come across any, I would be truly grateful if you could let me know about them. Your feedback will help me make BrickBreak even better!
